For some, gymming and sex life go hand in hand. There have been numerous studies which have stated that sex post workout is great. However, a recent study states otherwise for men. As per a finding, men who are gymming buffs can have a decreased sex drive.
A 2017 study by the University of North Carolina revealed that excess gymming can result in diminished libido in men. Apart from gymming, even if you are involved in high-intensity workouts frequently, there are higher chances of a declining sex drive for you.
According to experts, continuous engagement in high-intensity workouts can lead to physical and mental fatigue and tiredness. This means lesser motivation and desire for sex. This is also because during intense exercise sessions, two hormones get suppressed, testosterone and luteinizing hormone. Both of these are of importance in boosting sex drive in a man.
If you feel that lately you have been feeling not in the mood, chances are your vigorous workout schedule may be affecting your sex life. Consulting your doctor should be the first thing on your list.
This, however, should not make you stop working out altogether. You can continue to gym or follow the regime you like but at a normal pace and not in extremity.
